Two Chinese Wedding Baskets.
The pair of cylindrical wedding baskets constructed in wood, each fitted with a metal carrying handle and composed of stacked, lidded compartments. The exterior surfaces are intricately carved with continuous geometric and key-fret patterns arranged in horizontal bands, creating a rhythmic and structured decorative scheme. One example is finished in a deeper coffee-toned lacquer, while the other displays a warmer brownish-red hue, both highlighting the craftsmanship and subtle variation in surface treatment. The tiered construction reflects their traditional use in transporting food and gifts during ceremonial occasions.
