(Lot of Two) Large Japanese Porcelain Chargers. One charger is finished in a deep glossy black ground, carrying raised overglaze florals and gilt scrolling tendrils that converge around a central cobalt-blue flower head, giving the surface a rhythmic, trailing chiaroscuro-like contrast between gold and dark glaze, circa 1840. The companion charger presents asymmetric concentric bands in underglaze blue, iron-red, soft green, and gilt, fully worked around the well and rim with floral reserves and geometric repeats, the arrangement emphasizing organic flow over strict symmetry, circa 1970.

{Approximate dimensions - diameter 18 inches}.
