Japanese Persimmon Wood and Metal Jewelry Box.
The rectangular box constructed of richly grained persimmon wood, fitted with metal mounts and hardware, the front opening to reveal a fitted interior with six small drawers. The exterior doors are decorated with lacquered and relief-carved panels, the left depicting two birds in flight above Mount Fuji with lingzhi fungus below symbolizing longevity, and the right showing an eagle perched on a pine tree over a rocky cliff with waves beneath, conveying strength and resilience. The warm tones of the wood are complemented by the dark metal fittings, creating a balanced and tactile surface. The interior drawers are arranged in a compact configuration, offering functional storage within a refined decorative framework.
