Chinese Lacquered Foliate-Form Covered Box. Of lobed circular form, the box lacquered in deep red and brown tones, decorated overall with scrolling floral and auspicious motifs in polychrome and gilt. The cover divided into radiating foliate panels centered by a circular knop, each panel painted with alternating decorative subjects. The sides similarly decorated with continuous scrolling designs, the form suggesting use as a presentation or storage box. {Approximate dimensions: diameter 15 3/4 inches; height 4 inches}.

Scattered surface wear, rubbing, and minor losses to lacquer, particularly along edges and raised areas. Some surface scratches and areas of fading visible.
