Chinese Celadon-Glazed Blue and White Lidded Jar. The jar of baluster form with a domed cover, the exterior applied with a celadon-toned glaze and painted in underglaze blue with stylized floral scrolls and paired birds, arranged in symmetrical registers. The decoration is rendered in varying tones of cobalt beneath the glaze. The cover similarly decorated en suite. The base bears a four-character underglaze blue Chenghua mark, the mark likely apocryphal. {Approximate dimensions: height 17 inches}
