Chinese Carved Chenxiang Wood Ruyi Scepter.
The scepter of curved form carved from chenxiang (agarwood), the head shaped as a lingzhi fungus and decorated in relief with scrolling motifs, the shaft similarly carved with continuous vegetal designs, the wood of dark tone with natural grain and patina. The ruyi form, associated with auspicious wishes and authority, combined with the prized aromatic material, enhances its symbolic and material significance.
