Alexander Fisher Attributed Rose Tree Curtain Section, of cream and pale brown silk damask, embroidered with crewel wool and silk with red dusty climbing rose trees, with stylized petals and leaves, the long, thorny stems with entwined roots. Backed in silk, and with applied velcro banding to front. Designed by Fisher and executed at The Royal School of Needlework, Great Britain, 1904, for Fanhams Hall, Ware, Hertfordshire.

Roughly 2/5 of the right side of the panel absent. The lower 23" of the panel, toward hem, the silk is shattered and with losses, and the very lower several inches are under restoration netting. Please contact the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department for more photographs of the condition. We will also do a FaceTime video chat on this lot for interested parties.

As previously offered at Christie's, London, March 23, 2006, lot 102, which sold for $30,000. A similar hanging, but complete, is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, CIRC.610-1964; another is in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, M.2001./191.7.3, as gifted by Max Palevsky.
