After Andrea del Verrocchio (Italian, 1435-1488), Equestrian Sculpture of Bartolomeo Colleoni, bronze on marble. Unsigned. [Approximate dimensions: - overall: 25" H. x 21" L x 11 1/2" W]. This sculpture is a copy of the larger than life-size bronze equestrian monument by Verrocchio, an early Renaissance Florentine artist who is notably known for being teacher to Leonardo da Vinci. It is widely considered one of the great equestrian sculptures in history. Colleoni (1400-1475) was a "condottier", or mercenary military leader, who served Naples, Florence, and Milan, and as general in chief of the Venetian republic from 1454 until his death in 1475.

Daniel M. (Wygold) Mitchell Estate. Mr. Mitchell was a Naval Officer and an entrepreneur. Serendipitously, Lieutenant Commander Dan Mitchell transferred to the Naval Reserve where he joined VR-872 – a Navel transport squadron out of the Alameda Naval Air Station that Michaan’s is located on now. He and his wife, Paris, loved to travel and made it a point to travel to Paris twice a year, and always brought back beautiful and interesting items. His collection covers the spectrum from noted painters to a variety of Empire and Empire Style Gilt Bronze Figural clocks, marble and bronze sculptures, bronze and gilt brass urns, and complex models of military ships and aircraft.
