A Large Chinese Famille Verte Octagonal Planter, Late Qing Dynasty

A large Chinese famille verte porcelain planter, dating to the Late Qing dynasty. Of tapering octagonal form with a gently everted rim, the exterior is vividly decorated in famille verte enamels with luxuriant peony blossoms, flowering branches, ornamental rocks, and perching birds, motifs traditionally associated with prosperity, beauty, harmony, and the arrival of spring. The shoulder is decorated with geometric diaper patterns, stylized ruyi-head motifs, and scrolling floral designs, creating an elegant decorative framework that complements the principal decoration. The interior is glazed in a pale bluish-white tone, providing a subtle contrast to the vibrant enamel decoration on the exterior. Combining a distinctive octagonal form with finely painted floral-and-bird motifs, this planter exemplifies the decorative porcelain produced during the Late Qing dynasty for elite domestic interiors and gardens. Minor glaze wear and small chips to the rim are consistent with age and use.

一件清晚期五彩花鸟纹八方大花盆，器呈八方形，口沿微侈，下腹渐收，造型端庄稳重。外壁以五彩绘饰盛开的牡丹、花木、湖石及栖鸟图案，牡丹寓意富贵，花鸟象征和谐美满、生机盎然，是清代瓷器中最具代表性的吉祥装饰题材之一。肩部饰锦地纹、如意云头纹及卷草纹，与主体花鸟纹相互呼应，使整体构图层次丰富而富于变化。内壁施淡青白釉，釉色莹润柔和，与外壁绚丽明快的五彩设色形成鲜明对比。整器造型规整，纹饰繁密而有序，设色鲜艳雅致，兼具陈设与实用功能，充分体现了晚清陈设瓷器浓郁的装饰趣味与精湛的制瓷工艺。口沿可见少量磕损及正常使用磨损。
