Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892): Five Japanese Woodblock Prints.
Group of five Japanese polychrome woodblock prints designed by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892), including four from the series Shinkei Sanjūrokkaisen (New Forms of Thirty-Six Ghosts), published in the late 19th century, and one bijin portrait.
The prints include: “Minamoto no Yorimitsu in the Earth Spider’s Lair” (Genji Yorimitsu tsuchigumo o kiru zu), “Taira no Koremochi Slaying the Demon of Mount Togakushi” (Taira no Koremochi Togakushi-yama ni akki o taiji su), “The Monk Nichiren Calming the Storm” (Nichiren Shōnin kitō shite arami o shizumu), “Fujiwara Yasumasa Playing the Flute by Moonlight” (Fujiwara Yasumasa gekka rōteki zu), and a bijin portrait depicting a woman adjusting her hair.
