Lots 3374–3376 and 3414–3418 come from the family collection of Julia Tsui. Michaan’s is honored to present these works with the generous support of Ms. Tsui. Her late husband, Nelson Tsui (1932–2022), was a British-trained master mariner who later served in the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Government. According to his autobiography, he began his maritime career with Alfred Holt & Co. (the Blue Funnel Line), trained in England, and in 1961 received his Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign-Going Steamships. He was the author of My Unique Memoirs:

Julia Tsui’s mother was Kwan Ying Lin (关影怜, née Chow Lin 周莲; died November 18, 1979), a native of Xiaolan, Zhongshan, Guangdong. Active from the 1920s through the 1950s, she was a celebrated leading female performer in Cantonese opera who also appeared in Hong Kong films.
