A Southeast Asian White Metal Tripod Bowl and Covered Box
Possibly Burmese or Siamese, Late 19th–Early 20th Century
This is a Southeast Asian white metal tripod bowl and covered box, possibly Burmese or Siamese, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Both are decorated with dense chased and repoussé-style floral and foliate ornament characteristic of Southeast Asian metalwork. The circular box has a fitted cover centered with a recumbent deer within a beaded medallion, surrounded by scrolling floral decoration. The broad circular bowl is raised on three short lotus-bud-form feet, its exterior similarly decorated with continuous floral scrolls and geometric borders.
