Rudolff II Holy Roman Emperor Wine Decree 1600 - 1602 stating that wine shall not be exported, "either by water or by land, nor shall it be passed or allowed at the customs and tolls...but we will graciously allow those who are already on their way and been brought to the water to pass." The decree excepts Austrians below the Enns who own vineyards, and want to sell their wines to Austrians above the Enns. .. Signed in Vienna, on the 26th of November, 1601.
Signed to left, by Steingl, the Court Chancellor, and with the signatures of the court commissioners. Red seal to center, with additional paper to prevent breakage and or running. This document does not have the signature of the Emperor.
Rudolf II (1552 – 1612) was Holy Roman Emperor (1576–1612), also King of Hungary and Croatia (as Rudolf I, 1572–1608), King of Bohemia (1575–1608/ and 1611) and Archduke of Austria (1576–1608).
