Richard Kamler (American, 1976 - 2017), "Menu Final Meal Request by Inmates Executed in Texas," names from 1995 to June 3, 1997; mixed media consisting of stenciled red and black spray paint on lead sheet mounted on wood slab and two benches covered with lead sheets; each benches have raised lettering: 'punish' and 'abolish;' [approximate dimensions - menu: 9' 3 1/2" H x 48 1/2" W, benches (each): 18 3/4" H x 24" W x 12 1/4" D], unsigned. Artist's Bio: Long time artist/activist/curator/educator Richard Kamler has been making socially-engaged art since 1976 when he made his first major installation, “Out of Holocaust,” a full size reconstructed section of one of the barracks from the Auschwitz Death Camp. Since that time his public installations, audio pieces, actions and events, drawings, sculptures, and public presentations have dealt with a range of social, cultural, political and environmental considerations and have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Kamler approaches his practice from the premise that art is, and can be, a catalyst for engagement. https://richard-kamler.squarespace.com.
