Pair of Antique Hepplewhite Period Mahogany Knife Boxes. Shaped fronts, inlaid trim to edges, interior with inserts present having additional inlaid trim. Late 18th/early 19th century. {Approximate dimensions: 13 1/4" high x 8 1/2" wide x 9 1/4" deep.}.
Overall wear consistent with age. Surface wear, restoration and repairs including cracks. Minor loss to trim and veneer pieces.

Provenance: Daniel B. Dyer (1849-1912), a prominent businessman and Indian agent, whose homes "Chateau la Vert" in Augusta and "Clarendon" in Kansas City, Missouri, were filled with antiques from the Eastern Seaboard. Prior to his death Dyer had extensive photo documentation self published. Thence through descent to consignors.
