Li Keran (Chinese, 1907–1989) Welcoming Spring (迎春图), 1980s, and Ren Bonian (任伯年, also known as Ren Yi, Chinese, 1840–1896) Composing Verses on a Rock, 1950s, woodblock water prints (木版水印). The Li Keran composition depicts a young herdsman seated atop an ox, gazing toward blossoming plum trees, conveying a poetic sense of early spring and rural tranquility. The Ren Bonian work, presented in the format of a circular fan painting, portrays an elegantly dressed woman in a refined and contemplative pose, exemplifying the artist’s characteristic grace and sensitivity in figure painting. {Image size: 27 1/4 x 18 1/4 inches; diameter: 10 8/8 inches}.
