John Pitt Tall Case Clock, elm case with arched hood, and inlaid gilt metal motifs, pair of columns to either side of face, and bracket carved back side elements. Face painted in polychrome enamels with rising sun, rural scenes, and ladies at rural pursuits. Black roman numeral dials, eight day duration, signed in script John Pitt over Tetbury. Not dated, circa 1845.

John Pitt is recorded as working in Tetbury, Gloucestershire from the early 19th century, into the mid 1860s.
Wear includeing some cracks, chips, nicks, scratches, minor lifting, and previous insect damage. Several holes to back of clock, 1 3/4" wide hole to bottom of dial frame, hidden by dial door. Bronze embellishments with patina, some slightly loose, chips to several Corinthian capitals. Hood tilts forward slightly, key not working.
