Framed Charles Sumner, Envelope, postmarked from Washington, DC, July 1, 1864, and addressed to Miss. R. L. Duncan, Brumminer [sic] School, Boston, Mass. 

Charles Sumner (1811 - 1874), abolitionist, radical Republican, became Senator for Massachusetts, 1851- 1874.

Under glass and mat, with etching of Sumner to right of envelope.

Envelope toned, glass and frame with minor surface wear and scratches.
