John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851), "Wandering Shearwater," 1836, (Puffinus Cinereus. Bonap. Male), No. 57, Plate CCLXXXIII (283), 'Drawn from Nature by J.J. Audubon FRS. FLS.' and 'Engraved. Printed & Coloured by R. Havell 1835.' Hand-colored engraving, [approximate dimensions - plate: 12 1/4" H x 19 1/2" W, sheet: 25 1/8" H x 38" W]. 'J Whatman 1836' watermark at upper left.

Sheet is toned, shows acid burn along the margins and edges, including mat acid burn. Much of the condition issues under the matting. Edges show some losses including the corner tears, minor tears, push pin punctures are each corners. Discoloration at each corner. An inch tear at the right center side and about a three inch tear at the bottom left area. The three inch tear is taped verso. Foxing and staining. Framed: 28 1/8" H x 40" W. Ask Fine Arts Department for additional photos.
