Jean Prouve (France, 1901 - 1984). The Grand Repose was designed prior to the 1930 exposition of the Union des Artistes Modernes, and used by Prouve in his own home. One hundred chairs were produced at that time. As acclaim grew for Prouve again in the mid third of the 20th century, Prouve tweaked the Grand Repose for reissue by Tecta. After the designer's death in 1984, Prouve's family decided to end production.
Condition
Surface wear, abrasions, and small hole to head rest, minor surface wear and creasing to black leather upholstery throughout. Minor surface wear and scratches to upholstery. Wear to front coaster wheels.
