Japanese Cast Bronze Rectangular Planter.
Rectangular bronze planter with slightly flared rim and supported on short cylindrical feet. The exterior decorated in relief with a phoenix in flight surrounded by patterned ground, with further geometric motifs along the sides. The base cast with dense repeating archaistic patterns and a central raised cartouche bearing an inscription. {Approximate dimensions: height 4 1/4 inches; width 15 1/4 inches; depth 9 1/4 inches}
Condition
Surface wear, oxidation, and minor abrasions consistent with age and use.
