Artist's Bio: Sugimoto is one of the most important Japanese contemporary photographers, known for highly controlled black-and-white photographs that explore time, memory, perception and the boundary between reality and illusion. This photogravure is from Sugimoto's 2000 "Theatres" publication/edition, published by Eyestorm and Sonnabend Sundell Editions, London and New York. This was a follow-up to his 1978 "Theaters" series in gelatin silver prints.
