Chinese Silk Embroidered Panel of Shoulao with Deer.
The vertical panel finely worked in silk embroidery, depicting Shoulao, the Daoist deity of longevity, shown standing beside a deer, a symbolic companion associated with immortality. The figure is rendered with a high domed forehead and flowing beard, dressed in layered robes detailed with auspicious motifs in soft polychrome threads. The deer stands attentively at his side, further reinforcing themes of longevity and prosperity. The composition is set against a dark ground, allowing the delicate stitching and subtle tonal variations to stand out with clarity. The balanced arrangement and refined needlework reflect traditional symbolic imagery associated with blessings of long life and good fortune.
