This is a printed inscription by Cai Tingkai (Chinese, 1892–1968) dedicated to the Chinese community in the United States. Dated January 1, 1935, and written in San Francisco, the printed facsimile bears an original impressed seal. Cai expresses his gratitude for the generous support provided by overseas Chinese during the Battle of Shanghai against the Japanese army and encourages his compatriots to remain united in spirit despite the great distance separating them.

This auction also features Peacock and Pheasant among Flowers, Gift from General Cai Tingkai to Donaldina Cameron, 1934, another work connected with Cai Tingkai’s activities in San Francisco; we are deeply honored to present these two historically related works together, despite their having come from different consignors.

 {Image size: 9 x 11 inches, unframed}.

本次拍卖另有一件《Peacock and Pheasant among Flowers, Gift from General Cai Tingkai to Donaldina Cameron, 1934》,同样与蔡廷锴在旧金山的活动有关;两件作品虽来自不同委托方,却于此际共同呈现,实属难得,亦深感荣幸。{画面尺寸:9 x 11英寸,未装框}。
