Utagawa Yoshimune (Japanese, 1817–1880), “Ashikaga Tadayoshi’s Great Army Besieging Kusunoki Masatsura at Akasaka Castle.”An Edo-period ōban tate-e woodblock-print triptych depicting the armies of Ashikaga Tadayoshi surrounding Kusunoki Masatsura’s stronghold at Akasaka Castle, with numerous warriors and military encampments identified by inscribed cartouches. Signed “Ichishōsai Yoshimune ga” (一松斎芳宗画). Framed.  {overall sight: 13 5/8 x 28 7/8 inches, frame: 18 3/4 x 34 inches}. 

Condition

Light foxing and discoloration along sky, wear at seams. Not inspected out of frame. For condition report and additional photos, please contact the Asian Art Department.
