Each woodblock print depicts birds among seasonal flowers, fruiting branches, and foliage, including chrysanthemums, narcissus, pomegranate, and paulownia. Executed in the manner of Japanese kachō-e, or “pictures of birds and flowers,” the compositions combine finely drawn plumage and botanical details with broad areas of muted color and open space.

The first print is signed Gyōsui (暁翠) and bears a red seal reading Kogetsuan (湖月庵). The second through sixth prints are each signed Gesshō (月庄). All six are mounted together within a single frame.
