Bio: Andrew (Drew) DeShong (1941–2014) was a painter, set designer, scholar, writer, and longtime San Francisco bookstore owner. Raised in El Paso, Texas, he studied at Harvard and Yale, earning a PhD in Theater History in 1970. DeShong designed theater sets, exhibited paintings in New York, and later taught college courses in theater and literature. He authored The Theatrical Designs of George Grosz (1982) and co-organized a major exhibition on 20th-century stage design in Oslo. After moving to the Bay Area in the 1970s, he wrote for Art Week and owned Drama Books, a key cultural hub in San Francisco’s theater community.

Overall good condition. Corners of canvas has wear with loss in upper right corner. Canvas is unframed.
