A Large Japanese Lidded Kutani Vase with Dragon and Peacock Motifs, Meiji Period. The vase richly decorated in iron-red and gilt with a large peacock amid radiating feathers, framed by hexagonal and foliate panels enclosing fruit and floral motifs. The cover is surmounted by a molded shishi lion and further painted with dragons, peacocks, and fruiting branches. An additional inner lid accompanies the vessel. {Height approximately 16 inches}.
