A Group of jade and stone items. {Largest: diameter 6 1/8 inches; Smallest: diameter 1 1/4 inches}.

Provenance: From the collection of the distinguished San Francisco collector Irving Freedenberg, known as “Bill.”

Appraisal History: The present works were appraised on July 6, 1979, by Leonard Bowman, a fine arts appraiser active in San Francisco and Honolulu. The axe tablet, disc, and dragon pendant are listed as Items 14–16 on pages 3–4 of the appraisal. The axe tablet was described as “undetermined, but the style is archaic”; the disc as “undetermined, it is archaic in appearance”; and the dragon pendant as dating to the “Ancient Period, Eastern Chou–Warring States Period, 480–222 B.C.” Their replacement and insurable values were assessed at $500, $500, and $900, respectively.
