A Chinese Purple Ground Silk Embroidered Ladies Jacket. Finely worked on a vivid purple silk ground with gilt and polychrome thread depicting blossoms, butterflies, and phoenixes arranged in dense ornamental panels. The wide ivory front bands are embroidered with further floral sprays and auspicious motifs, terminating in tasselled ends. The interior sleeve linings are decorated with additional figure and floral embroidery. {Length approximately 43 inches (109.2 cm)}
