Chinese Carved Peking Glass Brush Pot.
The brush pot of cylindrical form, carved from translucent red Peking glass, the exterior finely engraved with a continuous inscription of Ouyang Xiu’s Zuiweng Ting Ji (“The Old Drunkard’s Pavilion”). The text is arranged in vertical columns, executed with precise and evenly spaced characters that wrap around the entire surface, creating a rhythmic and scholarly visual effect. The rich red glass contrasts subtly with the incised script, enhancing legibility while maintaining a refined monochrome aesthetic. The base is inscribed “Kangxi 23rd year, Qingyun Guan,” adding a historical reference to the piece. The overall composition reflects the literati tradition, combining poetic content with elegant craftsmanship.
{Approximate dimensions: H 5 7/8 inches x W 5 7/8 inches (14.9 x 14.9 cm)}
