A Burmese Red Lacquered and Gilt Seated Buddha. The figure is shown seated in dhyana posture upon a rounded pedestal, the right hand extended in bhumisparsha mudra and the left resting on the lap. The surface is finished in layers of red lacquer with gilt accents revealing areas of natural wear. The face has a serene expression with downcast eyes, arched brows, and elongated ears. The head is topped with a textured ushnisha surmounted by a flame-shaped finial. {Approximate dimensions - height 26 1/2 inches}.
