Artist's Bio: Walangkura Napanangka was a Pintupi artist born at Tjiturulnga in the Western Desert of Australia. She was part of the last generation to experience a traditional desert childhood of hunting and gathering with her family before relocating to the Ikuntji settlement in 1956. In 1981, she moved to Kintore and became involved in the women’s collaborative painting movement, later painting with Papunya Tula Artists. Her work depicts the stories, ancestral traditions, and significant sites of her traditional homeland west of Lake Macdonald. She lived in Kiwirrkurra with her husband and fellow artist Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula until her death in 2014.
