The square Kashmiri example with elaborate embroidered pieced  broder with foliate border, probably for the French market. The Scottish example,with central red field, and  border woven with lappets in colorful panels. Circa 1850 - 1880. {Approximate dimensions: 70" square, the first; the second 62 1/2" W. x 131" L.}.

Note: the square shawl border has been sewn in unusual fashion, with one length on the "wrong" side alternating with another on the "right" side. 

Condition

Condition: Minor holes, stains, flaws to first, plus the border sewn alternately with right and wrong side facing out. The second shawl with stains, a few small holes, minor tears to ends, one edge with loss to fringed ends.
