Two Large Bisque Head Dolls by Schmidt and Kestner. The first, a bisque head Franz Schmidt doll, 17 1/2, with blue glass sleep eyes and open mouth, dimpled chin, composition body, with period dress, and later stockings and shoes. The Kestner an M16 171 model doll with blue glass sleep eyes, dimpled chin, and composition body dressed in later costume. Both with painted eyebrows and lashes. The first incised to back of skull 17 1/2 / S and C / Germany. The second incised to back of skull, Made in / Germany / 171  with 61/2 to nape of neck. 34" and 31", respectively. 

Light hairline crack to top of left ear of the Schmidt doll. Both doll bodies with surface wear, cracks. Minor surface wear, glue residue near scalp, to bisque heads. New hair to both. Minor staining to dress of the first.
