Two Japanese Kutani Porcelain Plates. The first plate carries a figural landscape vignette showing two standing figures and a dog positioned beneath an elongated pine tree, the scene encircled by a saturated aka-e iron-red ground border enriched with gilt chrysanthemum scrolls and foliate designs, balanced by green and white arabesque reserves. The companion plate presents a central phoenix motif rising within a radial composition of unified cloud and wave brocade style surface in aka-e heightened extensively in gold, framed further by patterned brocade panels and repeating lattice detailing. {Approximate dimensions - largest diameter 9 1/2 inches}.
