Two Chinese Camphor Wood Trunks

The pair of rectangular trunks constructed in camphor wood, each raised on short feet and fitted with metal hardware. The darker example is richly carved in relief with continuous narrative and landscape scenes across the lid and front panels, depicting figures, architecture, and natural elements in a densely composed arrangement. The red-toned trunk is more restrained, featuring carved panels with architectural motifs and framed decorative elements, complemented by a warm natural grain. Both trunks exhibit sturdy construction and functional form, traditionally used for storage, while the carved ornamentation adds visual interest and cultural character.
