Three Piece American Renaissance Revival Parlor Suite, the walnut suite comprising a carved settee and two high back armchairs, all with scrolling arms, squared or rectangular seats, over scroll and wheat sheaf carved stretcher fronts, over turned H stretchers. Each upholstered with brocaded and brocatelle velour tapestry floral patterns.
Settee with label to underside, indicating it was delivered to John Breuner Co., Oakland, with delivery dates of 1943, to be delivered thence "for Scottish Rite Temple ENTRANCE FOYER." Possibly made by Karpen Brothers, Los Angeles. Several sofas and chairs also delivered to the Scottish Rite Temple, Oakland, are labelled "Karpen Brothers."

Condition
Surface wear, including nicks, scratches, scuffs, rubbing. Loss to the two decorative finials that apparently crowned the settee back; one chair finial detached, with loss; one attached in reverse. Settee seat sprung, pushing at the black cloth overlayment to underside. Upholstery with stains, soiling to seats. Please contact the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department for a detailed condition report on this lot.
