Three Chinese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Items.
Consisting of two cinnabar lacquer vases and a carved cinnabar lacquer box and cover in the form of a recumbent ram. The vases each with a flaring neck and baluster body, the surfaces carved in relief with continuous figural and landscape scenes framed by bands of scrolling foliate ornament around the neck and shoulder. The covered box modeled as a ram with its head turned slightly to one side, the lid forming the animal’s back and head. The surface carved with stylized geometric and archaistic motifs in relief across the lid and sides. {Approximate dimensions: lamb-form box width 11 3/4 inches; vases height 9 inches}
