The Spectator in Eight Volumes, Complete Set, comprising collected essays from the popular early 18th century daily English periodical founded by Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719) and Sir Richard Steele (1672 - 1729). Leather bound volumes, named and numbered to spines. Printed in Edinburgh for Misters Bell and Bradsute, Dickson, Creech, Mudie, Hill, Elder, Brown, Fairbairn, and J. Watson ampsand Co. including Lives of the Authors, in first volume, and each illustrated with a named author, and Index.

Condition

In good condition for age. Minor wear includes a few leaves with small losses or tears, small nicks to edges, stains to the first and last several pages of each volume, corner folds, minor foxing, light browning of paper and some fading of print. Leather covers with wear, rubbing, some with craquelure. Please contact the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department for a detailed condition report on this lot.
