Michaan's Auctions is honored to present this work with the generous support of Ms. Tsui. Her late husband, Nelson Tsui (1932-2022), was a British-trained master mariner who later served in the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Government. According to his autobiography, My Unique Memoirs, he began his maritime career with Alfred Holt & Co. (Blue Funnel Line), trained in England, and obtained his Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign-Going Steamships in 1961.

The mother of Julia Tsui, Kwan Ying Lin (born Chow Lin; died November 18, 1979), was a native of Xiaolan, Zhongshan, Guangdong. Active from the 1920s through the 1950s, she was a celebrated leading actress in Cantonese opera and also appeared in Hong Kong films.
