A Chinese Republican Period Hardwood Shrine with Modern Gilt Figure

A Chinese hardwood household shrine, dating to the Republican period (1912–1949), the rectangular shrine finely constructed with an open front framed by mother-of-pearl inlay, raised on an elaborately pierced stand carved with scrolling vine and fruit motifs. The sides are fitted with openwork panels and small glazed windows, while the rear panel features a circular openwork medallion backed with red fabric. The shrine is accompanied by a modern gilt figure of Guanyin seated in meditation, included for display. The shrine represents a traditional domestic Buddhist altar used for the private worship of Buddhist deities or ancestral tablets.

民国 硬木嵌螺钿佛龛 配现代鎏金观音像

一件民国时期（1912–1949）硬木佛龛，长方形制，正面敞开，边框饰螺钿镶嵌，置于镂雕缠枝果实纹底座之上。两侧设透雕花窗及小玻璃窗，背板中央饰圆形透雕纹样，并衬以红色织物，整体制作精巧雅致，体现民国家庭佛龛的典型风格。内置一尊现代鎏金观音坐像，为后配，用于陈设展示。佛龛原为供奉佛像或祖先牌位的家用礼佛器具。

佛龛尺寸：高14 1/4英寸，宽8 3/8英寸，深7 1/8英寸（36.2 × 21.2 × 18厘米）。
