Scottish Victorian Mahogany Tall Case Clock, the calendar clock face painted on steel with arch over moving sun, above corners, painted with figures holding emblems of rural life, centering the figures in rural surround. Roman and ordinal numbers in black enamel on white. The hood carved with broken arches, and partial gilt foliate terminates, centering a pointed arch in oak, and with turned, carved recessed columns to either side of the glazed doors, case of Gothic style, the triple arched door inset below a carved thistle, between reeded pilasters, over the body. Circa 1850.

Condition

Functionality not determined. Wear reflects age and use. Cracks to veneer, most noticeable to front above door, across side of upper hood, to base front, and to hood side edge; case back with long cracks, some losses. Some nicks, minor scratches and surface wear, craquelure and minor lifting, side of hood with loose piece of veneer trim. Crazing and minor losses to metal face. Door does not close completely. Includes key(s). Please contact the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department for a detailed condition report on this lot.
