Peter Alexander (American, 1939-2020), Lancaster, 1990, colored lithograph, [approximate dimensions - sheet: 30" H x 40" W], numbered 12/30, signed 'PA' and dated at low margin. Butterfly icon blindstamp at lower left corner. Butterfield & Butterfield label verso.
Peter Alexander was a Los Angeles-born artist associated with the Southern California Light and Space movement. He was part of the generation of L.A. artists-along with DeWain Valentine, Robert Irwin and others-who transformed the relationship between the viewer, light, and physical space. His particular contribution was the use of translucent colored resin to make objects appear almost internally illuminated. Alexander frequently used SoCal locations and aerial/night views as subjects - "Lancaster" being one of these from his somewhat later, mature period (1990).
Very minor toning to sheet. Framed: 39" H x 48 1/2" W.
