Pair of Antique Continental Carved Wood Putti Wall Hangings. Putti torsos framed by scrolled foliate carving and crowned with shells; some red, green, and gilt pigment present; the reverse sides painted with foliate motif in green, yellow, and red. 18th century. {Approximate dimensions: 40 1/2" high x 21" wide x 7 1/2" deep.}.  

Condition

Wear and restoration throughout including later supports to reverses. Gaps to seams and some cracks. Loss to pigment and significant wear to surfaces.

Warren Kopp and Paul Hardman were interior designers who owned an antique shop and interior decorating studio in the 1950s and 1960s.  In 1957, they bought the Talbot-Dutton House, now landmarked, where they set up an apartment as an homage to great French style.
