Pair of Chinese Carved Cinnabar Vases. Each vase of faceted baluster form, the exterior carved through layers of red lacquer to reveal panels of scholars in mountainous landscapes, framed by key-fret borders and dense floral scrollwork on the neck and foot. The carving displays alternating scenes of figures beneath pine trees and amid rocky outcrops, with patterned diaper grounds visible in the recessed areas. {Approximate dimensions - height 10 inches}
