Four volumes, large folio (559 x 356 mm). With 38 original leaves from American bibles, each tipped in and matted with printed captions; accompanied by bibliographical descriptions and commentary, loose as issued; together laid into four folding cloth cases with red morocco lettering-pieces on spines and covers.
Via the perspectus description: Thirty eight original leaves from Bibles printed in America, between 1663 and 1878.
Comprises: Leaves from disbound original sources, including: Eight leaves from the Bible in Indigenous Languages including the 1663 Eliot Bible (the first in any language printed in America); ten leaves from the Bible in English from the 18th century including the 1782 Aitken Bible (the first complete English-language Bible printed in America); ten leaves from the Bible in English from the 19th century including the first bible printed for the blind in America (1842); and ten leaves from the first American Bibles printed in other languages including the first Bible in German (1742).

Very good condition, appear not to have been opened often. Minor smudging and creases to cloth cases.
