Louis XVI Style Gilt and Patinated Bronze Figural Clock, the cylindrical clock body inset into a glazed case, under the cast gilt bronze figure of a fierce, spread-winged eagle, below the clock case, to either side, the patinated bronze figures of "L'Etude" and "Le Philosophie," seated in classical garb, reading gilt bronze books,  on chased, gilt bronze base, over oval rouge griotte marble base, with gilt bronze tablet to front, back and sides, with anthemia reserved on rectangular bands, and with foliate scrolling motifs to center front, on four squat, low feet. The white enamel dial with pierced hands and Arabic numbered chapters, a second band of Arabic numbers at the quarter hour positions. Includes key and pendulum.
