Continental Renaissance Revival Oak and Walnut Buffet a Deux Corps, elaborate arched crest carved with putti centering a fierce bear, over top case piece with jester, masks, full figural carved grotesque figures of male and female caryatids in high relief, flanking two blind doors carved with trumpeting putti in advance of goddesses, surrounded by extensive scrolls, and birds, in high relief, supported by two sphynxes bearing sheilds; the lower case piece with two shallow drawers over two blind doors, similarly carved in high relief with grotesque, figures in high relief, and the door panels carved with Venus and Adonis. Possibly Northern Italy, Southern Germany. Circa 1880 - 1890.
