French Empire Bronze Figural Mantel Clock, the cylindrical clock with face labeled in black enamel, "Armingaud l'Aine / a Paris," centered within Roman chapters and Arabic numbers for the quarter hour positions, the mechanism with silk thread suspension pendulum and escapement wheel.  To the left of the clock body stands the patinated, winged figure of Eros, dressed with a gilt quiver of arrows, holding aloft a gilt free standing portrait plaque with a portrait of Aphrodite, with a ladder to hold the portrait on the other side, over the rectangular base over four low feet. 

Armingaud L'ain, recorded at rue Meslay, Paris, and boulevard de la Porte Saint Martin, 1806-13. Clockworks stamp impressed at 10 o'clock 221/C. Pendulum weight stamped 22978. Late 20th Century.

Portrait plaque loose, with nick and dent to lower edge; ladder with two screws, to rest plaque on, if not desired resting in Eros' hands. Wear, patination, and scratches to exposed surfaces. Front and back glazed doors to clock absent. On winding, clock bell chimes, and arm moves, albeit pendulum appears to be long and a replacement.
